What is a Christian? How do you know you are one?
This post is not designed to answer the question but to have you think about it and do your own research on the topic. The are different religions and thousands of church that uses the bible to define what a christian, and to become one if you're not. We I was growing up I had no idea what true Christian was. My belief was that if you believed in a God and knew about Jesus you were considered a Christian. After studying the bible with a new church that I'm happy to be a part of I was able to learn what is means to be a Christian. Again I'm not here to give you my thoughts on what it means to be a Christian. That is your own battle. But will say this in the New International Version(NIV) of the Bible the word Christian only appears 2 times. If the word Christian was really mentioned why do most people call themselves Christian? Then I have to ask, What is a Disciple? That word is mentioned way more times then Christian.
What is your understand of it?

Speaking In Tongues
So one day I go visit my family in Louisiana. My step mom take me to church with one Sunday morning. During the church service I would see a bunch of people "Speaking In Tongues". Now I've seen this when I was little going to church, I grow up around that kind of environment. But here I am a lot older then I was back then and evaluation what's taking place. The church that I'm going doesn't have people "speaking in tongues". They believe in it but don't practice it, which I like. At the end of the church service my step-mom asked me what I thought about the service. So I was and told her that the service was good but I didn't know how to feel about multiple people "speaking in tongues" in church. As she was explaining the reason or purpose behind it I made a few mental notes of what she said. One of the thing that stood out to me was the claim that you know you have the Holy Spirit if you can "speak in tongues". Two, that you should ask God for that specific gift. And lastly "speaking in tongues" is a heavenly language.
My challenge to everyone is to tell me what you know about "speaking in tongues".
